Milos Raonic was born on December 27, 1990, in Podgorica, Montenegro (formerly part of Yugoslavia). His parents are Dušan Raonic and Vesna Raonic, both engineers.

His father holds a PhD in electrical engineering, while his mother has degrees in mechanical and computer engineering, including a master’s degree.

Raonic has two older siblings—a sister named Jelena Raonic, who is 11 years older, and a brother named Momir Raonic, who is 9 years older. Raonic is of Serbian descent. He moved to Canada with his family when he was 3 years old. He practices Christianity.

Career

Milos Raonic first competed in junior events sanctioned by the International Tennis Federation (ITF) in 2003 at 12. In 2005, at age 14, he won his first singles match.

After turning professional in 2008, Raonic played primarily at ITF Futures and ATP Challenger tournaments. He won his first ITF Futures singles title in 2009 and added three more singles titles and five doubles titles at the ITF Futures level over the next two years.
