Raymond Anthony Lewis Jr. (born 15 May 1975), addressed as Ray Lewis, is a talented American retired professional football player.
He is one of the sportspeople who spent their 17-year career as a linebacker with the Baltimore Ravens.
He was an All-America college football player. The Ravens selected Ray Lewis in the first round of the 1996 NFL Draft, and he was the team’s final active player from its inaugural season when he retired following the 2012 season.

Early Life
Ray Lewis was the oldest of five siblings born in Bartow, Florida. His mother was only 16 when he was born, and his father was away for the majority of his life. He was born to Sunseria (mother) and Elbert Ray Jackson (father) on the 15th of May 1975.
His father’s background was little known save that he was a record-breaking high school wrestler before being sentenced for drug-related offenses. Ray Lewis grew up to be the man of the house, despite being the eldest brother of four younger siblings. His four siblings are Keon Lattimore, Lakeisha Jenkins, Laquesha Jenkins, and Kadaja Holloway.
Ray Lewis groomed his sisters’ hair and ensured his younger brother was on time for daycare. When his father’s relationship with him dwindled, he dropped his last name and enrolled in Kathleen High School in Lakeland under the name of his mother’s lover, Ray Lewis.

Ray Lewis attended the University of Miami, where he played football for the Miami Hurricanes. As a freshman, he had an immediate impact, starting the Hurricanes’ final five games.
Ray Lewis accumulated 81 tackles, two sacks, two tackles for loss, and four pass deflections while playing for hurricanes.

Ray Lewis was selected to the Pro Bowl for the second time in 1998, with 120 tackles, three sacks, two interceptions, a forced fumble, and seven pass deflections. He led the Ravens in tackles for the third year in a row. He was also chosen to the All-Pro Team by Sporting News.
Ray Lewis and the rest of Raven’s defense restricted Hall of Fame running back Barry Sanders to only 41 rushing yards on 19 attempts in what would turn out to be his final game.
In 2000, Ray Lewis led a defense that many call the greatest in NFL history for a single season. In week 2 of the regular season against the Jacksonville Jaguars, Ray Lewis led the team in tackles with 11 tackles in the 39-36 win.
In week 3 against the Miami Dolphins, he had 11 tackles in the 19-6 loss. In week 6 against the Jacksonville Jaguars, he finished 13 tackles and a fumble recovery in the 15-10 win.
