Thomas Joseph Welling, also known as Tom Welling, is an American actor, director, producer, model, and podcaster who gained fame for his portrayal of Clark Kent in the CW superhero series Smallville (2001–2011).

He also had a role as Lt. Marcus Pierce/Cain in the third season of Fox’s Lucifer (2017–2018).

Early Life and Education 

Tom Welling, now 47 years old, was born on April 26, 1977, in Putnam Valley, New York.

He grew up alongside his brother, Mark. Welling‘s interest in acting sparked at a young age, leading him to pursue opportunities in the field.

He attended Okemos High School in Michigan before transferring to the Salesianum School in Wilmington, Delaware, where he completed his high school education.

Later, Welling studied at the University of Michigan, where he majored in finance.

Personal Life

On July 5, 2002, Welling and model Jamie White tied the knot on Martha’s Vineyard, with Welling‘s friends and his former Smallville co-stars Kristin Kreuk and Michael Rosenbaum attending the wedding.

They initially lived in Vancouver, British Columbia, but moved back to Los Angeles in March 2011.

However, their marriage came to an end when White filed for divorce on October 17, 2013, which was finalized in November 2015.

Career

Originally working as a construction worker, Welling was discovered in 1998 at a party in Nantucket by casting director Jennifer Starr, who was there scouting for new faces for a Tommy Hilfiger campaign.

She suggested that he try modeling, and Welling subsequently modeled for Louisa Modeling Agency until 2000 before moving to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career.

While in Los Angeles, he also modeled for Tommy Hilfiger, Abercrombie & Fitch, and Calvin Klein.
