Lil Durk Arrested in South Florida on Murder-for-Hire Charges Tied to Rap Feud
October 26, 2024Chicago rapper Lil Durk, born Durk Banks, was arrested Thursday night in South Florida, facing serious charges related to a murder-for-hire plot. The arrest in Broward County stems from allegations tying him to a scheme targeting fellow rapper Quando Rondo. However, the incident ultimately led to the 2022 death of Rondo‘s cousin, Saviay’a Robinson, known as Lul Pab, in Los Angeles.
Known for his drill music style and founding the label Only The Family (OTF), Lil Durk is currently held without bond. An indictment unsealed in the U.S. District Court in Los Angeles names Durk and five others connected to OTF, charging them with conspiracy to commit murder-for-hire, murder-for-hire resulting in death, and firearms-related offenses.
Documents reveal the alleged plot may have been motivated by ongoing hostilities between Lil Durk‘s group and Quando Rondo, possibly in retaliation for the 2020 killing of Durk’s close friend, King Von, in Atlanta. Investigators claim OTF resources were reportedly used to coordinate travel and weaponry for the planned attack, which mistakenly resulted in Robinson’s death instead of Rondo’s.
Lil Durk, 32, has faced legal challenges before, but these charges represent a new level of seriousness, intersecting with the themes of street life often reflected in his music and now amplified by his current legal battle.
