Peter Obi Makes Rounds, Visits PDP Heavyweights Including Atiku
May 15, 2024Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s candidate in the 2023 elections, recently paid visits to some big names in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), like former vice president Atiku Abubakar, ex-Senate President Bukola Saraki, and former Jigawa State governor Sule Lamido.
Now, this got folks talking about what it means for the opposition parties as they gear up for the 2027 elections.
Atiku Abubakar was quick to share the news on Twitter, showing his happiness to have Obi over. You might remember that Obi was Atiku‘s running mate in the 2019 elections when they lost to President Muhammadu Buhari.
But what did they talk about? Well, that’s still under wraps. But word on the street is they discussed the importance of opposition parties coming together for the next elections.
Atiku‘s spokesperson mentioned that these meetings were kept hush-hush, and they’re still waiting on the lowdown.
On the other hand, Obi‘s spokesperson gave a bit more insight. He said that Obi was moved by the state of the country and the struggles of the poor, which pushed him to reach out.
Obi is all about making Nigeria a better place for everyone, lifting people out of poverty, and creating opportunities.
These visits highlight the need for unity among opposition parties as they work to improve Nigeria’s political landscape.
