Katt Williams Accuses Cedric the Entertainer of Joke Theft

In a recent instalment of Shannon Sharpe’s Club Shay Shay podcast, comedic heavyweight Katt Williams launched a scathing accusation against fellow comedian Cedric the Entertainer, claiming the theft of one of his prized jokes. The contentious dispute revolves around an incident dating back to the 2000 film The Original Kings of Comedy.

Williams didn’t mince words, asserting that Cedric utilized his material without due credit or acknowledgement. In frustration with the podcast, Williams said, “He thought that I was just a no-name comedian and that he could take this joke and nobody would know.”

The disputed joke holds significant weight in Williams‘ comedic arsenal, having been performed on BET’s ComicView with considerable success. Williams contends that he showcased this joke twice on the platform, underscoring its importance by featuring it in a BET commercial.

“This is not just a random joke — this is my very best joke, and it’s my last joke, and it’s my closing joke,” Williams stressed. Recalling an incident in 1998, he alleged that Cedric praised the joke after witnessing the performance. However, two years later, Williams claims Cedric incorporated the joke into his routine for The Original Kings of Comedy, introducing specific modifications, such as transforming Williams‘ car into a spaceship.

Cedric responded to the accusations in the comments section of a Club Shay Shay Instagram post, dismissing the claims as “Revisionist History” and defending his extensive career. He asserted, “My career can’t be reduced to One Joke Katt Williams claims as his.”

Adding a layer of complexity, Williams mentioned an alleged apology, asserting, “Him and Steve Harvey had already apologized for me, so I gave him a pass for a decade.” This twist intensifies the feud, with Williams questioning why Cedric would deny the incident now.

This isn’t Williams‘ first time courting controversy within the comedy community. In the same podcast episode, he took aim at Steve Harvey, accusing him of fabricating a homeless backstory. The comedic clash is far from over, keeping fans and fellow comedians on edge as they eagerly anticipate the next chapter in this unexpected feud.
