Rep. Lauren Boebert’s Son Tyler Faces Felony Charges After Arrest

The son of Colorado Representative Lauren Boebert found himself at the center of a legal storm, leaving his mother “heartbroken” and facing a slew of criminal charges.

Eighteen-year-old Tyler Boebert was arrested on Tuesday on a total of 22 criminal charges in Rifle, Colorado, following a series of vehicle trespasses and property thefts. The Rifle Police Department revealed on Facebook that Tyler is facing four felony counts of criminal possession of ID documents, one felony count of conspiracy to commit a felony, and numerous misdemeanor and petty offenses.

According to police affidavits, Tyler and three other unnamed teenagers allegedly broke into cars, stole credit and debit cards, and used them to purchase items including gas, energy drinks, and food from convenience stores, McDonald’s, and Starbucks. Surveillance footage reportedly captured a young man, identified as Tyler, wearing a “Shooters Grill” sweatshirt, leading to the teens’ identification. Notably, Shooters Grill is a restaurant formerly owned by Lauren Boebert.

In response to her son’s arrest, Representative Boebert expressed her love for Tyler but emphasized the importance of him taking responsibility for his actions. She told The Denver Post that Tyler should be held accountable for his “poor” decisions, affirming her commitment to stand by him through this difficult time. Tyler was released on bond the following day and is scheduled to appear in court on April 11.

This incident adds to the recent tumultuous events surrounding the Boebert family. Last month, Tyler‘s father, Jayson Boebert, was arrested on charges of third-degree criminal trespass, obstruction, and disorderly conduct. Additionally, Lauren Boebert herself was granted a temporary restraining order against Jayson after alleging threats of violence.

While Lauren Boebert has gained attention for her outspoken political stance, this personal ordeal sheds light on her family’s challenges behind the scenes.
