Ajakaju, an enthralling indigenous film, marks the debut production venture of Yoruba actress Eniola Ajao, making her the first female producer to achieve the biggest opening for an indigenous film in Nigerian cinema history.

Released on March 29, 2024, Ajakaju is a collaborative effort between Eniola Ajao, Anthill Studios, and directors Odunlade Adekola and Adebayo Tijani.

The storyline delves into the struggles of a King facing exile due to his wives’ inability to produce a male heir. He takes a wife from another realm to secure his legacy, setting off a chain of unforeseen events and a battle for his lineage.

On its premiere day, Ajakaju raked in an impressive N16 million, as reported by Nairametrics. With Idowu Adedapo behind the lens, acclaimed for his work on hits like Wedding Party and King of Boys, the film promises an immersive exploration of power, love, and the quest for legacy.

Eniola Ajao, whose acting journey began in 2004, shared in a recent interview that the production spanned three weeks. She also revealed the financial sacrifices made, including selling off assets to finance the project.

The stellar cast includes Sola Sobowale, Bimbo Akintola, Odunlade Adekola, Ibrahim Chatta, Lateef Adedimeji, Femi Adebayo, Faithia Balogun, Mercy Aigbe, Eniola Ajao, Peju Ogunmola, Yinka Quadri, and a host of other talented actors.
