Jacqueline Acheampong (born 16 December 1998) is known in the entertainment business as Gyakie.

She is a 25-year-old fast-rising Ghanaian singer and songwriter whose genre of music is Afro-fusion.

She came to the limelight after dropping the hit single, Never Like This.

Early Life

Gyakie was born in Bompso town in Kumasi in 1998. She originally hails from Abuakwa, another town in Kumasi.

She is the daughter of Ghanaian music legend, Ernest Owoahene Nana Acheampong. Her father was a member of the popular band, Lumba Brothers.

From an early age, Gyakie had shown signs that she would take after her father as a musician. Because she had a very sonorous voice while growing up.

She was an active member of her church’s choir and served as of its lead vocalists.

Education

Gyakie completed her primary school education in Kumasi.

She studied at TI Amass for her secondary school education and obtained her West African School Certificate from the institution.

She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in International Business from the Kwame Nkrumah University Of Science and Technology.

Career

Gyakie joined the Ghanaian music industry professionally in 2019. Her debut single is Love Is Pretty. The song made waves in local radio and TV stations for some weeks.

Her debut EP titled SEED was released in August 2020. The EP is a five-track project that showed Gyakie experimenting with different sounds.

In 2020, she featured leading artist Bisa Kdei on her single, Sor Mi Mu. Other artists she has worked with include Elom ‘E.L’ Adablah and Kuvie.

She became a national star after dropping the hit single, Never Like This.

In the past two years, she has performed at major shows in Ghana such as Rapperholic, Tidal Rave, Repu Hall Week, amongst others.

She is currently being managed by Flip The Music Entertainment outfit.

She has been featured in Nigeria’s One Tribe Magazine and Red Bull South Africa. She has been a guest on Focus On Africa produced by BBC.

Her EP has a combined eleven million streams on major music platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, Audio Mack, Boomplay, and YouTube.
